Through Duane’s early work he used long exposure and light for his photos to examine philosophical ideas about gender and death. He is able to examine these difficult themes and capture his subjects in an abstract form.

Francesca’s photos also used long exposure and objects to hide certain parts of a body that often gave photos a sense of fragility and mystery. Many of her subjects tended to be women and used their body movements as a form to hide their faces further creating mystery.

This is an interactive installation piece made by Camelia Mera. It has different colored plates that each are labeled under a different emotion. A person gets to pick which plate/”emotion” they are and are allowed to smash it on the ground. This installation allows the audience to have a form of self-release and visualization of emotions.

This is an article that speaks on Mad Perch’s photographs he creates using light projections onto people. He uses bright and colored light designs to create vivid and euphoric images. This piece is inspiring to see visuals created in a different format and see projections come to life.

This is a short 1940’s experimental psychodrama film. This film uses creative editing and angles to create a mysterious effect. The video uses jump cuts and a noir style for an abstract drama.  Some scenes seem to be a figment of her imagination during the film.

This article shows work from a young photographer from Wisconsin, who creates visuals that are around mental health, addiction, and depression. She created a series called “Breaking The Stigma: Mental Health Series” where she uses descriptive words such as broken or drowning to create visuals that represent that state.
